Redge Solley's formative years in advertising were spent with J. Walter Thompson Company Ltd. in London where he was employed as an art director for seven years. He worked on a wide range of major accounts. These included Rowntree's of York, Fray Bentos (the OXO group of companies), Kraft Foods Ltd., Horlicks Pharmaceuticals and Champion Spark Plugs.
He arrived in Hong Kong and worked for numerous well-known advertising agencies including Leo Burnett Ltd. and Chase Compton Advertising Ltd. on accounts such as 'The Yellow Pages' and 'The Mandarin Group of Hotels'
Later he joined the Creative Department of the Government Information Services as a creative director in charge of the creative side of campaigns, working exclusively on Hong Kong Government Information projects. They included AIDS Prevention, Building Safety, Civic Education, Fire Prevention, Fight Crime, Environmental Protection, Illegal Employment, BNO Passports, Promotion of Service Industry and Anti-Narcotics. There were also special promotional projects for The Governor, The Chief Secretary, and The Financial Secretary and top civil servants.
Since he left the employment of the Hong Kong Government, he now offers a creative service on a project basis. He regularly works on philatelic projects for the Hongkong Post. He recently worked on a proposed money laundry book for the Security Branch. As a sub-contractor he was responsible for the creative styling of a presentation book for the KCR, and now he is one of their approved design specialists. |
